Calculates an instant composite safety readiness score based on verified device capabilities and highlights critical conditions like offline status, missing location access, or unconfigured emergency contacts.

Location, Network & Battery Status

Monitors essential connectivity metrics in real time through standard browser APIs, verifying online network availability, battery charge level (where supported), and GPS availability.

Emergency SOS (112)

Provides a direct, one-tap connection to open your device phone dialer for universal emergency dispatch (112). Calls require your manual confirmation and are never placed automatically.

Family SOS (Up to 3 Contacts)

Configure up to three trusted emergency contacts. Contacts are stored purely on your local device and can be notified in an emergency after your explicit confirmation.

Safety-Focused Sharing

Generate safety messages with pre-formatted text and accurate Google Maps coordinates when enabled, allowing you to share your status via your system share sheet or copy it to your clipboard.

Transparency & Device Data Handling

1. Introduction

SafeCheck is a personal safety assistant designed to help users evaluate their personal safety readiness and communicate with trusted family contacts and emergency responders in urgent situations. We prioritize user control, privacy, and data minimization.

2. Location Data & Permissions

  • User-Initiated Permission Only: Location is accessed only when you explicitly grant location permission through your browser dialog.
  • No Continuous Background Tracking: SafeCheck does not track your location in the background or continuously monitor your movements. Location requests are executed on demand when you refresh your safety status or trigger an alert.
  • Safety-Related Usage: Real location coordinates are used exclusively for safety-related features, such as displaying your location accuracy status and creating an optional Google Maps location link (https://maps.google.com/?q=lat,lng) when you choose to share your status.

3. Family SOS & Emergency Contacts

  • Local Device Storage: Up to 3 emergency contacts you enter are stored locally in your web browser's localStorage on your device.
  • No Server Transmission: Your contacts' names and telephone numbers are never transmitted, synchronized, or uploaded to any remote server or database.
  • Local Management: You can edit or remove saved contacts at any time directly through the app interface.

4. Emergency Calls & Message Sharing

  • No Automatic Calls: SafeCheck does not automatically call emergency services or dial contacts.
  • Manual Confirmation Required: The Emergency Call action opens your device phone dialer using a standard telephone link (tel:112), requiring you to review and confirm placing the call.
  • Explicit Sharing Confirmation: Family SOS and safety status messages are shared only after you confirm the action in a review modal, using your device's native sharing sheet or SMS composer.

5. Network, Battery & Device Information

  • Safety Status Display Only: Network connectivity and battery information (where supported by your browser) are inspected in memory solely to display your safety status card and calculate your readiness score.
  • Browser Sandbox Boundaries: Web browser sandbox limitations prevent SafeCheck from inspecting your operating system's lock-screen, PIN, or biometric security status. SafeCheck clearly identifies this boundary and provides guidance for securing your device in your operating system settings.

6. Data Storage & Backend Notice

SafeCheck operates entirely on the client side inside your web browser. SafeCheck does not collect, sell, or transmit personal data, contacts, or location records to an external server.
